With ever rising energy costs, the property owners were looking to make an investment to reduce their monthly outgoings that would outstrip that offered by income-based interest rates in the bank. With utility costs increasing, addressing the cost of the electricity bills was a perfect area to target.

AS Mechanical & Electrical Ltd installed a solar array on the perfectly South-facing roof of the property, to capture energy from the sun, and battery storage to enable the house to continue to run from this energy outside of daylight hours.

We have since monitored the performance between May and Mid August and found the house to have only used around £15 of grid electricity in that time.

Coupled with the system is an excellent mobile-based application that allows the homeowners to monitor their production and introduce smart behaviours, such as using appliances when their is an excess of production.

With information provided to date, we estimate the investment to be fully repaid after around seven years.
